What sets the new series apart is that it is the franchises’ first-ever foray in a locale outside of America. All four other NCIS shows – NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: Hawai’i and the cancelled NCIS: New Orleans – all take place in territories within the US. What’s more, the series is being helmed by Australian-born Shane Brennan, creator of NCIS: LA.

Speaking about the new spinoff, chief content officer and executive vice-president of ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand, Beverley McGarvey, said that it will ”incorporate the superior NCIS storytelling while introducing new Australian characters and locations”.

When Season 20 picks up, it will be at full speed. In usual NCIS fashion, the Season 19 finale ended on an ominous cliffhanger. Agent Parker had been framed for murder. Even though the FBI was hot on his trail, he went into hiding with his team promising to clear his name. Unfortunately, the FBI wasn’t the only person looking for Parker. Through some clearly nefarious circumstances, Parker’s ex-wife had reentered the picture and went into hiding with him. Then, in the closing seconds of the finale, she answered a text saying, ”It’s done. I have him.” Thanks to the synopsis of the opening episode (via Cinemablend), fans know that she is in league with the infamous Raven — who will be the major villain to start the season. While proving Parker’s innocence will be a major part of Season 20’s early episodes, the rest of the season also promises to focus on characters’ personal lives — like the budding relationship between Jimmy Palmer and Agent Knight. In an interview with Parade.com, NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder “We’ll be seeing their non-work life a little more. I think one of the cores of the show is the cases. The show’s called NCIS, it’s about the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. But anyone who watches the show knows that it’s really about the people on the show.” Additionally, NCIS fans can look forward to more crossovers with NCIS: Hawai’i. In fact, the season opener will show Tennant’s Hawai’i team helping catch the Raven, and Hawai’i’s opening episode will continue that storyline as the DC crew travels to Oahu. –Cbr.com

After wrongly assuming an argument between two ‘soccer moms’ had simply gotten out of hand, the footage zooms in to confirm Zasha is back in the picture. Moreover, rival agent and Callen’s ex-girlfriend Joelle Taylor (Elizabeth Bogush) seems to be the one who initiated the confrontation. Zasha nearly managed to sabotage the team last season as Callen was framed for being a Russian spy.  Just before he rendezvoused with a captain who could prove his innocence, he was poisoned and Zasha fled the scene.
However, Joelle appears to have beaten the NCIS to the punch and kidnapped the Russian agent in her desperate search for answers. Unfortunately, her unorthodox tactics could land her in hot water with her CIA superiors.
